Lloret de Mar is located 40 km from Girona and 75 from Barcelona. The city has almost 40,000 inhabitants. This number in the summer season is more than doubled.

The name Lloret de Mar means “laurel tree”, which the city has in its coat of arms

Lloret de Mar is the most popular resort on the Costa Brava. Everybody will find something for themselves. Life takes place there both at night and during the day. Lloret de Mar lives at night. There is a lot of clubs, disco bars. One of the most popular is Disco Colossos or Disco Tropics. Walking in the evening around the city you will certainly get a lot of offers encouraging you to look into the club. So it is a paradise for party people! But not only …. I was twice in Lloret de Mar. I spent it in two other ways, the first disco, and the second one is a leisurely beach or pool hotel. I can tell you that I am happy with both 🙂

People are very polite though sometimes insistent. Especially in shops 🙂 The beach in Lloret de Mar is fantastic. You must also mention the beautiful bar : Cocktails Maritu beach. The best location to drink a tropical drink like from the Caribbean. Cocktails are available alcoholic and non-alcoholic, served in fancy nudges.

Of course, there are also several places that are worth seeing during your stay in Lloret de Mar

  • Parish Church of Santa Roma
  • Paratge de Santa Clotide
  • Modernisty Cmentary
  • Parochial Rectory
  • La Dona Marinera
  • Castell de Sant Joan
  • Museum of Cats

From Lloret de Mar (and several nearby beaches) you can go on a cruise, for example to Tossa de Mar, Blanes, Santa Susanna or Calella.

To the most popular places (Tossa, Fenals or Lloret), the ship runs seven times a day, to Calella only once a day.

On the way to Tossa de Mar you can go under the deck and through the transparent bottom observe life under the sea.

Tickets for the cruise can be bought in small wooden booths lined up along the beaches.

Prices: 8 € for the shortest route (Fenals in Lloret) and 30 € for the longest cruise (Calella to Tossa) – it is possible to buy a cheaper family ticket and a discount for return trips.
